Orient Land Trust

Orient Land Trust protects land, water, and wildlife habitat in the northern San Luis Valley of Colorado, founded in 2001 on the belief that valuable natural resources are too valuable to be owned by any individual. Its holdings include Valley View Hot Springs, the historic Everson Ranch established in 1872, and the Orient Mine, whose former iron ore workings shelter roughly 250,000 Brazilian free-tailed bats each summer. The trust stewards these properties alongside adjoining federal and state land, preserving unspoiled views, wildlife corridors, and water resources.
