One People One Reef

One People One Reef partners with outer island communities in Yap and Chuuk, Micronesia, combining traditional ecological knowledge with marine science to protect coral reefs and the fisheries islanders depend on. Its programs cover reef and fisheries surveys, genetic and sea turtle research, drone monitoring, local management practices, invasive species, marine debris and disaster recovery. The collaboration began in 2010 after residents of Ulithi Atoll reported declining fish populations, and it also runs a Youth Action Program and education work.
