Ogallala Land & Water Conservancy

The Ogallala Land & Water Conservancy is a Clovis, New Mexico nonprofit working to conserve the agricultural land and groundwater of the Ogallala Aquifer paleochannels. It uses a voluntary, market-based model, negotiating conservation easements and lease agreements with farmers, ranchers, and landowners to protect the long-term water supply for eastern New Mexico, including Cannon Air Force Base and its operational range. It reports 56 wells metered and retired, 11,120 acres transitioned off irrigation, and 12.05 billion gallons saved.
