Ocean Research Project is an Annapolis-based nonprofit founded in 2012 that conducts scientific exploration under sail to monitor human impact on the ocean and engage the public in its conservation. Its expeditions aboard the 72-foot research vessel Marie Tharp study marine plastic pollution, climate change in polar regions, and seafloor mapping. Work has spanned the Atlantic and Pacific as well as Greenland and the Canadian Arctic, alongside plastics research in the Chesapeake Bay.
