The Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA) is dedicated to protecting and restoring aquatic ecosystems and the species they sustain through innovative technology, science-based conservation action, and community education. Founded in 2005 by marine biologist Edie Widder, it develops pollution monitoring and mapping instruments, runs citizen science programs, and conducts restoration work centered on Florida's Indian River Lagoon. ORCA operates the D.J. Rainone Research & Science Center and a Center for Citizen Science, with offices in Vero Beach and Indian Harbour Beach.
