Nutrient Stewardship Council

The Nutrient Stewardship Council governs the voluntary, third-party audited 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program for agricultural retailers, crop consultants and nutrient service providers, built on applying the right nutrient source at the right rate, right time and right place. Its members are drawn from business, government, university and non-governmental sectors, with the shared aim of sustaining crop production while improving water quality in Lake Erie and its contributing watersheds. The program launched in the Western Lake Erie Basin in 2014 and expanded statewide across Ohio in 2017.
