The North Lake Protection Association is a membership group of roughly 250 lakefront and lake-access households on North Lake, a 227-acre lake in the northwest corner of Washtenaw County, Michigan, about seven miles north of Chelsea. Its stated mission is to protect the ecological, recreational, and aesthetic well being of North Lake by proactively controlling adverse impacts through testing, diagnosis, and treatment. The association samples the lake through Michigan's Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program, runs aquatic vegetation and weed control work, and arranges lake inspections with county officials and environmental specialists.
