North County Advocates is an all-volunteer nonprofit founded in 2009 to preserve the quality of life, environment, and character of coastal North County San Diego, focused on Carlsbad, La Costa, and Encinitas. It monitors local government bodies including the cities of Carlsbad and Encinitas, SANDAG, and the county Board of Supervisors, and pushes back on excessive development, traffic congestion, zoning changes, and pollution. It also educates residents on conservation practices such as native planting and water conservation, and has funded land acquisition for permanent preservation.
