The New River Land Trust conserves farmland, forests, open spaces, and historic places in the New River region of Southwest Virginia, working across eight counties and the cities of Pulaski and Radford. It partners directly with landowners to conserve or restore their properties and works with local and regional partners on larger conservation and public access projects such as Brush Mountain Park. Since 2002 it reports protecting 58,000 acres of land and 27 miles of New River waterfront.
