New Mexico Prescribed Fire Council

The New Mexico Prescribed Fire Council promotes prescribed fire as a land management tool statewide, serving landowners, forestry professionals and agencies. It holds monthly meetings, regional workshops on controlled burning, and prescribed fire training exchanges, and maintains a directory connecting people to burning opportunities. It championed House Bill 57, the New Mexico Prescribed Burning Act signed into law in March 2021, and is affiliated with New Mexico State University's College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
