NeighborSpace is the only nonprofit urban land trust in Chicago that preserves and sustains community gardens on behalf of the resident groups who tend them. It takes on the burdens of property ownership, including basic insurance, water access, stewardship, education, tool lending, project planning, and fundraising support, so gardeners can focus on growing. Its work spans neighborhoods across the city and includes projects such as a community orchard initiative, a Chicago community compost pilot, and the West Side Nature Play Network.
