The Monarch Butterfly Fund works to protect monarch butterflies and their migration, concentrating its grantmaking on Mexico's monarch overwintering region. Its four program areas are habitat conservation through forest restoration and reforestation with local communities, scientific research and monitoring, education and outreach, and sustainable development. The site reports more than $1 million distributed since 2009, over 450,000 trees planted, and support for more than 50 organizations and individuals.
