Miles-Wye Riverkeeper

The Miles-Wye Riverkeeper is a ShoreRivers program working to protect and restore the Miles River, the Wye River, and Eastern Bay, a 244-square-mile area of Maryland's Eastern Shore that includes the Wye East, Main Stem, and Narrows around Wye Island and the creeks feeding Eastern Bay. Its work includes submerged aquatic vegetation harvesting and planting, volunteer water monitoring, and oyster reef plantings coordinated with NOAA and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. It also runs bacteria monitoring through Swimmable ShoreRivers and promotes River-Friendly Yards.
