Methan Stop

Methane Stop is a Texas-based nonprofit that reduces methane emissions by targeting inactive and orphaned oil and gas wells that need to be plugged and abandoned. It works with the Texas Railroad Commission and certified plugging-and-abandonment companies to locate and cap these wells. The site notes that methane traps about 80 times as much heat as carbon dioxide in its first 20 years in the atmosphere, and that more than 2 million orphaned wells exist in the US.
