Maine Lakes Society

Maine Lakes is a nonprofit membership organization that describes itself as a clear voice for the protection of Maine's freshwater resources and wildlife habitat, working with lake residents, lake associations, communities, and visitors. Its flagship program is LakeSmart, a free voluntary evaluation that helps lakefront property owners adopt landscaping and stormwater practices that reduce erosion and phosphorus runoff.
