Lynnhaven River NOW is a Virginia Beach nonprofit started in 2002 by local citizens to reduce pollution in the Lynnhaven River, and has grown into an award winning river restoration project with over 12,000 members. It works with residents, businesses, schools, faith communities, and community leaders to identify and reduce sources of contamination running off lawns, parking lots, roadways, and farmland, and out of septic systems. Its programs include oyster restoration, community science such as water quality testing and waterway cleanups, conservation landscaping, youth education, the Pearl programs, and public policy advocacy.
