Lumber Riverkeeper

The Lumber Riverkeeper is one of four riverkeeper programs of the Winyah Rivers Alliance, watching over the 1,750 square mile Lumber River watershed in North and South Carolina. Founded in 2018, it works with local residents to identify pollution sources, enforce environmental laws, and advocate for stronger water protections. It runs a citizen-supported water quality monitoring program in the watershed in collaboration with University of North Carolina Pembroke faculty and students.
