Lumber River Conservancy

The Lumber River Conservancy is an all-volunteer land trust founded in 1991 to preserve and protect the Lumber River as a natural and scenic river, along with the wild and recreational areas and waters along its tributaries. Based in Pembroke, North Carolina, it conserves private property, accepts land and monetary donations, and supports research on its protected lands. The Lumber is a blackwater river running 115 miles to the North Carolina and South Carolina line, added to the National Wild and Scenic River System in 1996.
