Lower Howards Creek Nature And Heritage Preserve Inc

Lower Howard's Creek Nature and Heritage Preserve protects 441 acres in a limestone gorge in Clark County, Kentucky, where Lower Howard's Creek meets the Kentucky River, with 228 acres dedicated as a state nature preserve in 2001. Its stated aims are to provide nature education, preserve endangered and threatened species, and preserve and interpret an important chapter in the history of Clark County and the Bluegrass Region. The preserve shelters more than 200 plant species, including running buffalo clover and white walnut, along with river otters, beavers, bobcats, and gray bats, and it contains five stone milling-era buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
