Louisville/Jefferson County Environmental Trust

The Louisville/Jefferson County Environmental Trust protects land for future generations through voluntary cooperative programs, and was created in 1997 to help implement the parks, natural areas, greenways, historic sites, and farmland goals of Louisville Metro's comprehensive plan. It promotes stewardship of natural and cultural resources, explores voluntary private land preservation such as the donation and purchase of conservation easements and land, coordinates with Metro agencies managing natural areas, and advises Metro Council on land conservation. A nine-member oversight board of five citizens and four government agency representatives governs it, with staff housed in the Office of Planning.
