The Littleton and Ayer Spectacle Pond Association protects Spectacle Pond, which straddles the towns of Littleton and Ayer, Massachusetts, along with its surrounding watershed and the aquifer beneath it. The association formed after a railroad company proposed building an auto-unloading facility on top of that aquifer, and it went on to work on pond monitoring, non-native aquatic plant control, and environmental advocacy alongside local groups and town departments. Its board describes pursuing issues with a commitment to research, dialogue and community.
