Little Juniata River Association

The Little Juniata River Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 1998 by local citizens after a major bug kill on the river, with a mission to monitor, preserve, and improve the Little Juniata River and its tributaries as cold water resources. The river runs roughly 32 miles from its headwaters near Altoona in central Pennsylvania to its junction with the Frankstown Branch. The association has helped secure catch-and-release regulations on 14 miles of water, repaired eight severely eroding streambank sites, planted more than 1,000 trees and shrubs, raised over $200,000 for five miles of permanent public fishing easements, and has run annual river cleanups since 2005.
