The Lake Lanier Association is a member-supported nonprofit based in Gainesville, Georgia that works to preserve Lake Lanier's water quality and quantity for everyone who relies on the lake and its watershed. Its programs are organized around keeping the lake clean, full and safe: water testing, erosion management, a dock builder pledge, the annual Shore Sweep shoreline cleanup, life jacket loaner stations and boating safety courses. It also runs a governmental affairs effort, engaging city, county, state and Army Corps of Engineers officials, and has operated since 1966 with roughly 4,500 members.
