Lake Irene Preservation Association

An association of Lake Irene lakeshore property owners in Douglas County, Minnesota, near Miltona, formed in the early 1980s to preserve and improve the quality of the lake and sustain its fishery. Its main effort is a five year plan coordinated with the Minnesota DNR to control invasive curly-leaf pondweed, for which it has raised nearly $500,000, alongside annual walleye stocking funded jointly with the DNR. The association also acts as DNR liaison for the public access, promotes native shoreline through Lake Steward, and organizes lake cleanups and member events.
