Lake Gaston Weed Control Council

An advisory council that sets policy for controlling and eradicating undesirable aquatic weeds in Lake Gaston, on the North Carolina and Virginia border, and for improving water quality and pollution control in and around the lake. It plans and coordinates vegetation treatment, supports research, biological controls, and habitat enhancement, organizes volunteer vegetation surveys, and takes public reports of aquatic plant and algae problems. It makes recommendations to county commissioners in North Carolina and boards of supervisors in Virginia, working alongside state and federal agencies.
