The Lahontan Audubon Society works to preserve and improve the remaining habitat of birds and other wildlife, restore historical habitat, and educate people, especially children, about birds in Nevada's environments. Based in Reno and active across northern Nevada for about 60 years, it runs bird walks, youth education, and habitat conservation work, and connects local birders through eBird and a Nevada bird listserv. The organization notes on its site that it is beginning the process of changing its name to better reflect its mission.
