Laguna Greenbelt, Inc.

Laguna Greenbelt is a grassroots 501(c)(3) that has worked to protect open space and wildlife habitat in Orange County, California since 1968, and led the decades-long effort to preserve the 22,000 acres of coastal wilderness surrounding Laguna Beach. It now leads a coalition pursuing the Irvine-Laguna Wildlife Corridor, which would let wildlife move between that greenbelt and more than 150,000 acres of natural land in the Cleveland National Forest and Santa Ana Mountain foothills. The group points to limited space in the South Coast Wilderness, and the resulting loss of genetic diversity in populations such as coyotes and bobcats, as the reason the connection matters.
