Lackawanna Valley Conservancy

The Lackawanna Valley Conservancy is the land trust established in 1995 by the Lackawanna River Conservation Association to acquire and manage land and water resources in the Lackawanna River Watershed of Northeast Pennsylvania. It buys vulnerable properties through private donations and matching state grants, holds conservation easements that let owners keep title while permanently barring development, and grants easements to public agencies for trail work. It has acquired roughly twenty properties totaling about 400 acres, focusing on land along the river and its trail, tributaries such as Roaring Brook and Spring Brook, ridgetop land, forested wetlands, and abandoned industrial and mine lands it then cleans up.
