La Jicarita News is a community advocacy publication covering land and water resource management in the Rio Pueblo and Rio Embudo watershed and the wider northern New Mexico region, based in Chamisal, New Mexico. It reports on farmland lost to development, water transferred away from agriculture, forest encroachment on grasslands, declining biodiversity, community access to forest resources, and rural economic decline. It also promotes and helps facilitate collaborative projects between public lands agencies and community groups that protect forest resources and provide land-based economic opportunity.
