Joppe Wildlife Institute

Joppee Wildlife Institute studies and develops the wetlands, grasslands, and lakes of the Joppee Freedman's town in southern Dallas, an ecosystem that supports mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, and macro-invertebrates. It focuses on habitat research, pollinator-friendly stewardship, and enhancement and recreation work tied to clean water, sanitation, sustainable community, and job creation goals. Planned projects include a lakefront trail with fishing access, kayaking and birdwatching on Joppee Lakes at Honey Springs Branch, and an amphitheater.
