ICON (Iowa Confluence Water Trails) is an independent 501(c)(3) working to reconnect Central Iowans with the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers, describing itself as a regionally inclusive recreational confluence connecting culture, conservation, and adventure. It is building out a network spanning roughly 150 miles of Central Iowa creeks and rivers with more than 80 planned amenities and improvements for paddling, boating, walking, biking, and whitewater. The organization is headquartered in West Des Moines and funded by local municipalities, state and federal government, and private donations.
