Illinois Audubon Society

The Illinois Audubon Society describes itself as Illinois' oldest independent nonprofit conservation organization, working statewide from its Springfield headquarters through a network of local chapters. It preserves open space by pre-acquiring land for state and federal agencies using dedicated land acquisition funds, and it maintains its own protected sanctuaries. It also runs education programs including the Windy City Bird Lab, publishes the quarterly Illinois Audubon magazine, and certifies private land through its Bird and Butterfly Sanctuary Certification program.
