Humboldt Waterkeeper

Humboldt Waterkeeper works to safeguard the coastal resources of the Humboldt Bay region of northern California through education, scientific research, and enforcement of pollution laws. Its programs include a toxics initiative, volunteer water quality monitoring, public bay tours, and community outreach, with recent work on legacy dioxin contamination, 6PPD-quinone in urban streams, sea level rise, and offshore wind. Founded in 2004, it is a member of the Waterkeeper Alliance and extends beyond Humboldt Bay into adjacent watersheds including the Mad River and Lower Eel River.
