Homosassa River Restoration Project Inc

The Homosassa River Restoration Project is an all-volunteer Florida nonprofit formed to restore and preserve the Homosassa River in Citrus County. Its work removes invasive Lyngbya algae and decades of accumulated muck from the river bottom, then replants native eelgrass and protects the new plantings with exclusion cages until they establish. The aim is to improve water clarity and quality and rebuild the habitat that supports the local ecosystem and economy.
