Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness Area Fund

The Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness Area Fund supports the Backcountry Wilderness Area, a 13-square-mile, 8,200-acre wildlife habitat conservation property in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, owned and operated by the Highlands Ranch Community Association. Its stated mission is to improve wildlife habitat, inspire the next generation of nature stewards, and ignite a lifelong love of the outdoors for all, which it does by funding free and low-cost nature programming, including the Sunshine and Storytime program and Camp Backcountry. Conservation work described on the site includes trail camera wildlife monitoring, pine beetle management, and a bison reintroduction project with Denver Mountain Parks and the Denver Zoo, alongside more than 26 miles of natural surface trails.
