The High Plains Grasslands Alliance is a collaborative of private ranches in northeastern New Mexico, launched in 2011 by the Piojo, Fort Union and Wind River ranches and now representing over 200,000 acres of working ranchland. Its members share a focus on land and wildlife stewardship, keeping ranches economically viable without depleting the resource, and pooling what they learn across property lines. The Alliance runs individual ranch projects, workshops, and landscape-scale monitoring, and is funded by member donations and small grants.
