Healthy Reefs for Healthy People is a coral reef science initiative working across the Mesoamerican Reef in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras, with team members based in each country. It publishes periodic Reef Health Report Cards that grade the reef using indicators such as live coral cover, fleshy macroalgae cover, and herbivorous and commercial fish biomass. The initiative coordinates more than 70 partner organizations, turning that monitoring data into management recommendations for reef managers and policy makers.
