Headwaters & Marine Stewards

Headwaters & Marine Stewards is a Portsmouth, New Hampshire nonprofit working "from source to sea" to give towns agency-grade evidence about the condition of their waters. It trains volunteers with professional field kits to collect water quality data along local shorelines, runs a self-paced digital academy for those stewards, and deploys a custom shallow-draft drone, the HMS Ghost, to map water quality across estuaries and pollution hotspots. Its focus is the Great Bay watershed and the Piscataqua River, with public programs slated to launch in spring 2027 after a 2026 infrastructure phase.
