Hannig Environmental Research Organization

HERO focuses on marine and rain forest ecology and environmental justice, saying it exists to support global research, education and protection of the planet "from river to reef and classroom to courtroom." It owns 100 acres of rainforest in Bocas del Toro, Panama, and works with local scientific groups on studies benefiting marine life, coral reefs, rainforests and wildlife. Its program areas include River-2-Reef (freshwater and agricultural runoff impacts on reefs), marine justice, climate change, maritime environmental practices and wild dolphin protection.
