Green Riverkeeper

Green Riverkeeper is MountainTrue's Waterkeeper Alliance program for the Green River Basin, covering the headwaters on the eastern slope of DuPont State Recreational Forest through Henderson and Polk counties in western North Carolina to the river's confluence with the Broad River. Staff, interns, and volunteers sample water quality at sites across the watershed every week from May through September, posting results each Friday to Swim Guide so paddlers, swimmers, and anglers know where bacteria levels are safe. The program also documents pollution sources such as sediment runoff, reports violations to state regulators, and runs river cleanups with partners including Conserving Carolina.
