Green Mountain Club

Founded in 1910 and based in Waterbury Center, Vermont, the Green Mountain Club works to make Vermont's mountains a larger part of people's lives by protecting and maintaining the Long Trail System, the footpath running the length of the Green Mountains from Massachusetts to Canada. The club runs trail maintenance and backcountry caretaker programs to protect alpine zones, conserves land along the corridor, and operates visitor centers near Mount Mansfield. It also leads group hikes, workshops, and educational programs, and manages a rental cabin program.
