Great Bay Piscataqua Waterkeeper

The Great Bay-Piscataqua Waterkeeper is a program of the Conservation Law Foundation, the New England environmental advocacy group that uses law, science, and market strategies to protect the region's natural resources. The Waterkeeper acts as advocate, convener, and watchdog for the Great Bay estuary across New Hampshire's Seacoast and southern Maine, patrolling by boat to spot illegal pollution and other threats. Its campaigns push for upgrades to outdated sewage treatment plants, target stormwater runoff, and organize residents through Clean Water Advocates for Great Bay to address nitrogen pollution, declining eelgrass, and struggling oyster populations.
