Gallatin Yellowstone Wilderness Alliance

Gallatin Yellowstone Wilderness Alliance is a Bozeman-based volunteer conservation group working to protect and restore the ecological integrity of the Custer Gallatin National Forest and the remaining wilderness-quality lands of the northern Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem through congressionally designated Wilderness under the 1964 Wilderness Act. It drafted the Gallatin Yellowstone Wilderness Act and supports the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, while opposing competing proposals it considers too weak. Its focus areas include the Gallatin, Madison, Absaroka-Beartooth, Crazy, and Pryor ranges, with a stated priority on wildlife over industrial-scale recreation.
