Fungi Foundation works for fungi, their habitats, and the people who depend on them, pushing for fungi to be recognized in conservation policy and environmental decision-making. Its programs span habitat conservation, expeditions cataloging fungal diversity, a free mycological curriculum, and an Elders program documenting ancestral human-fungi relationships. Founded around a fungarium established in Santiago, Chile in 2014, it went global in 2020 and opened an India chapter focused on ethnomycology in 2023.
