Friends of Winter Pond is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) group dedicated to the care and conservation of Winter Pond, a kettle pond in Winchester, Massachusetts. Residents founded it in 1998 as the pond's condition deteriorated, and it took nonprofit status in 2002, broadening from invasive plant control to wetland management, storm drain improvements, public access and endangered species protection. It raises funds and awareness to supplement the Town of Winchester's limited resources, and supports recreational use of the pond including fishing, kayaking, birdwatching and ice skating.
