Friends Of The Tug Fork River

Friends of the Tug Fork River works to preserve and protect the Tug Fork River and its watershed, raise awareness of its history, and develop recreation, tourism, and economic opportunities for the area. Its Tire Tug of War cleanup has removed nearly 20,000 tires from the river over eight years, and the group has helped establish two designated water trails, the Bloody Mingo in Mingo County and the Mighty McDowell in McDowell County, alongside more than 25 public river access sites. Based in Williamson, West Virginia, it also runs paddle camps, fishing expos, and community cleanup days.
