Friends Of The Rufuge Headwaters Inc

Friends of the Refuge Headwaters is a volunteer organization supporting the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, concentrating on the Winona District, a 40-mile stretch of river from Wabasha, Minnesota to Trempealeau, Wisconsin. It runs Swan Watch bus tours to see migrating tundra swans, winter and summer fishing events for children and disabled adults, and canoe and kayak outings, and works alongside refuge staff on habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and biological surveys. The group also maintains 35 fishing line recycling bins across 30 miles of river and advocates for the refuge and the national wildlife refuge system.
