Friends Of The River Uncompahgre Foru

Friends of the River Uncompahgre (ForU) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) in Montrose, Colorado working to preserve, protect, and restore the Uncompahgre River as it runs through the city, and to build the community's connection to it. Its work includes riparian habitat restoration, maintaining trails along the river corridor, and caretaking the river by monitoring conditions and alerting boaters and anglers to hazards. ForU also runs outreach and education through events, presentations, a newsletter, and partnerships with the City of Montrose and other local groups.
