Friends of the RBNP has managed the Richard Blenz Nature Preserve and Buckner Cave outside Bloomington, Indiana since 2005, on behalf of the National Speleological Society, to which the original owner donated the property. The group controls visitor access to the cave through tiered memberships that carry annual volunteer labor requirements, with non-member visits arranged at least a week in advance. Its stewardship work has included a multi year graffiti removal and sandblasting restoration of the cave passages and a cave gas monitoring project begun in 2010.
