Friends of the Nambe Badlands is a New Mexico nonprofit formed by mountain bikers, hikers, and naturalists to preserve the erosion-prone landscape of the Sombrillo Area of Critical Environmental Concern and the Nambe Badlands, off NM 503 between Nambe and Chimayo. It pairs resource protection with education, advocating responsible hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding on established trails, and works with the BLM Taos Field Office as the official land manager. The group publishes trail conditions, resource damage reports, and guidance on respecting the land, wildlife, neighboring Pueblos, and grazing impacts.
